What I Learned
What is the best thing you have learned this year so far and how did you learn it from advice or experience? Explain.
Deja Diggs
The best thing I learned this year so far is that in order to do better, you have to want to do better for yourself and separate yourself from people that try to bring you down. That’s what my mother would always tell me. This year, I really started to listen and think about it. I wanted to do better in certain classes. So, I started to move away from certain people.
Charles Oxley
The best thing I learned this year was planning my future. I’m going to be successful in life; this was always a concern, but I never really thought about it. I had to go to this program, and Mr. Bell said, “where are you going to be in five years from now when your friends are in college and owning business”. After that, I started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. He shared stories with me about how his friend lost his life by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So, I started planning out my future.

The best thing I learn this year
I can fix my problems. My family and others describe a story that gives you an idea of how you can fix your problems. Also I learned how to be yourself and not pretend to be somebody that is not you.
Malik Martin
The best thing I learned this year so far is nothing, because most of the stuff that is being taught I already know, but learning stuff in school is really not fun or interesting. It depends on what class you have and all my classes suck, but I have no choice but to learn so I can be prepared for the real world. I learned a few things, but none of them were the best. Hopefully in the 11th grade, I will be able to answer this question with something instead of saying nothing.

This year I’ve learned that any thing could happen at any given time. Over the past week, my cousin’s house caught on week fire and they didn’t have anything but the clothes on their back. Now, they are in a hotel and people have donated money, clothes, and shoes. Now, they have some things.
How Not To Steal Love
How Not to Steal Love
by Carlos Barnes
With love you have ups and downs
Sometimes you smile sometimes you frown
Love is a ball of trust, even though you go through muss and fuss
You shouldn’t steal someone’s love for you pleasure
Because love is a powerful measure
When you have true love, you are honest, loyal, and forgiving
kinda like the one above
Don’t love someone to make them feel good, love them for them
When you get married, it says love a person, “for rich or poor”, “for better or worse”, “in sickness and in health”
When you do this it is impossible to steal love
How Not to Steal Love
by Tieara Reddick
Love can’t be proven with poems, promises, or presents, true
doesn’t have a happy ending it has no ending. Sometimes only pain and patience
can prove love, love the person who deserves it, not the one who requires it,
sometimes you don’t want to fall in love, but your heart doesn’t ask your
permission. Don’t let anybody steal your heart.

Love is Blind
by Myesha Clarke
All you see in your life is pain
no love, no lie, but its blind
everytime I see you
You can’t even look in my eyes
you got four kids by this coward
don’t let him take what’s not his from your heart
Love is blind and it takes over your mind
You called me on the phone late at night telling me
How he left you in the dark with no food to feed your kids
I tell you get a job and make something out of your life
Walked out the Benz door outside and suited up
He bought you diamond rings to make you fall for him
One day you’ll realize how bad he hurt you
She Goes Back
by Amber Williams
He beats her as if she is the enemy
But that’s what she calls love
They fight over the kids
But she just makes excuses
She says she is done and leaves
But she goes back
She tells me not to let this happen to me
But I learn from my mom
She is a care giver
But she gets no kind of love
She cries and she drives away
But she goes back
Their love, mixing baking soda & vinegar
Foaming up and over
Their over whelming fights
Overflows and leaves a mess
It affects everyone near
But she goes back
Their Conversations turn into arguments
But he’s left with the blame
She insults his family
But he can not defend them
She manipulates his soul
But he likes it
Being a punching bag, “I wish you would boy!”
But he does what he’s told
She leaves him with the mess
But all he could do is stress
She drives away worrying
He wants her back
Beep beep! The sound of the cars honking their horns.
As he comes to her door
Heartlessly being carried
The green light yelled at us
As the other cars rode passed
But she goes back
She could’ve should’ve would’ve, but didn’t
But he isn’t bothered
She’s chosen to birth me
But I am left with the pain
Their love is cruel kindness
But she goes back
He beats her as if she’s the enemy
But that’s what she calls love
They fight over of the kids
But she just makes excuses
She says she is done and leaves
But she goes back
